Support United Flight Attendants Fighting for a Fair Contract
Flight Attendants are the face of United Airlines. We provide professional service to our passengers while acting as aviation’s first responders and last line of defense.
Our Contract became amendable in 2021. As unionized workers and members of the Association of Flight Attendants – CWA, we have the right to negotiate our work rules, compensation, and benefits through the contract negotiations process under the Railway Labor Act (RLA). However, at every turn, United management has done nothing to further our negotiations.
United Airlines Promised Industry Leading, They Lied.
Management representatives have offered nothing but concessions at every step of negotiations while raking in unprecedented profits. They have devalued our work as Flight Attendants and shifted their narrative from leading the industry to merely following it.
We have been making sacrifices for the betterment of United for decades and have yet to be repaid for our efforts. From helping the airline survive bankruptcy to concessions after the attacks of September 11th - we have never been made whole with a Contract that recovers and repays what we have given.
United Airlines is topping the charts as one of the most successful airlines in the world and the largest airline in the United States. Their success was built by the workers of United Airlines, but management refuses to acknowledge the work we provide by dragging out negotiations and expecting concessions.
The time is now for United management to make good on their “Good Leads the Way” slogan with an industry-leading Contract for United Flight Attendants.
Our Sacrifices Kept Planes in the Air During the COVID-19 Pandemic
As Flight Attendants, WE were on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic. Classified as essential workers, we weren’t given the same protections as the general public. We had no choice but to continue to come to work, connecting people, and transporting resources such as medical supplies amid this global pandemic. When normal travel resumed, we were still there to provide safe transportation worldwide.
Flight Attendants agreed to unpaid voluntary leaves of absence to help keep the company afloat during this time. Those who continued flying ensured passengers could get where they needed to go in the face of this unprecedented global health crisis.
We were forced to deal with passenger rage as we complied with federal and company mandates. Flight Attendants risked their health, and their physical well-being every time they set foot on an aircraft. More than a few ultimately succumbed to complications of COVID. This was devastating for our community.
However, our sacrifices kept the airline afloat, and with the pandemic behind us, the company is thriving. The time for a new Contract is NOW!
United Flight Attendants are Working for Free
Every year, United Flight Attendants lose thousands of dollars while being required to be at work, but only paid for some of our time. We are performing safety duties, assisting passengers, supporting Pilots, and not being paid for our work. We are only paid when the aircraft is in motion, from when the parking brake is released for departure until it is re-set on arrival. This practice must stop.
What are we asking for?
An Industry Leading Contract
Pay for our time at work
Increased Base Pay Rates – Retroactive to Amendable Date
Improved Work/Life Balance
Schedule Flexibility
Work Rule Improvements
Modern Reserve System
Job Security
Healthcare Benefits
Secure Retirement
